2011: Made the position switch from cornerback to safety for the 2011 season, starting in nine and appearing in 11...finished fifth on the team in tackles with 45 (27 solo), including one TFL...had three interceptions to tie for the team lead with outgoing seniors Jean Fanor (FS) and Ryan Lewis (LB); returned the picks for a combined 27 yards to lead the team...broke up four passes to tie Dion Hanks for team high...scooped up a fumble recovery in the season-opening MEAC/SWAC Challenge win over Prairie View A&M (9/4), returning it 31 yards for a touchdown...had a season-high eight tackles at North Carolina Central (10/29), with at least four tackles in eight game
2010: Played in two games for the Wildcats before an injury cut his season short...a solid start, with four tackles and four pass breakups
2009: Played in seven games for the Maroon and Gold in the defensive secondary...tallied 21 tackles on the year along with four passes defended...had a season-high game against North Carolina A&T (10/31) with six tackles and one pass break-up
2008: Played in one game, against Hampton (11/8), and collected one tackle
Personal: The Son of David and Lekita Howard, born September 1, 1989 in Daytona Beach...attended Spruce Creek High...majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Business at Bethune-Cookman...his father played football for B-CC...D.J. also runs track at B-CU, coming out of high school second in Florida in the 110m hurdles, the AAU 110m hurdles champion, three-time All-American and Volusia County Athlete of the Year
