Chief of Staff | Football Operations
Bethune-Cookman | 1981
24th Year at B-CU
Jeff Fagan is set to embark upon his illustrious 24th year with the Bethune-Cookman Football staff. He currently serves in the capacity of Chief of Staff and Director of Football Operations, and has done so the previous five years for the Wildcats.
In his duties, Fagan is responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the football office, including coordination of all travel arrangements and game day services for both home and away contests.
Prior to his stint as Director of Football Operations and Chief of Staff, Fagan served for 13 years as an assistant coach under former Bethune-Cookman head coach Alvin B. Wyatt, Sr., working primarily with A-Backs. He also served three seasons under Jack “Cy” McClairen while he was head coach, as he is now Senior Associate Athletic Director for B-CU.
During his playing days, Fagan was an all-state performer in high school at Killian High in Miami, Fla. He would go on to be a stellar student-athlete on the gridiron at Bethune-Cookman. However, Fagan’s coaching career began, like so many, on the high school circuit.
From 1988-89, Fagan worked as an assistant coach at Seabreeze High School in Ormond Beach, Fla. He soon worked his way over to Daytona Beach powerhouse Mainland High School, where he served under head coach Doug Stanley and the Buccaneers program from 1990-94.
While serving with both Seabreeze and Mainland, Fagan was instrumental in helping the two dominant local programs to four District titles, two Regional titles and one Central Florida Bowl Championship crown.
As a 1981 graduate of Bethune-Cookman College, Jeff Fagan believes in the one thing that every successful coach lives with every second of the game – “calling the right play and making the right block is all that is needed for a drive to be successful”. He instilled into every one of his former A-Backs, and every player he works with as an administrator, that a total commitment is needed to produce excellence on and off the field. Fagan brings the same approach from his coaching philosophy to helping the program to operate at the highest efficiency, aiding first-year head coach Brian Jenkins during his inaugural year in 2010, assisting to produce one of the best seasons in B-CU Football history.
During his playing days at Bethune-Cookman, Fagan saw action as an offensive lineman for the Wildcats from 1978-79. He later earned a degree in Physical Education.
Fagan began his Bethune-Cookman coaching career in the spring of 1994 as a football administrator.
Jeff Fagan is the proud father of three children; Jahmal, Emerson and Cyrus (a defensive back on the football team at Florida State University).
