Britney Snowden

The 2023-24 season marked the third year for Britney Snowden as an assistant coach for women’s basketball at Bethune-Cookman University. At BCU, Snowden works primarily with post players helps with all aspects of the program including recruiting, scouting and the front court.
 
Since arriving at Bethune-Cookman, Snowden has been a member of the women’s basketball program that has increased its total wins and wins percentage every season that she has been on staff.
 
In 2023-24, the Wildcats’ Kayla Clark, a center from Miami, Florida, increase her shooting touch and field goal percentage from outside the paint. Clark also registered six double-doubles on the campaign, including 10 double-digit rebounding efforts overall on the season. Clark also averaged 9.8 points per game and shot a team second-highest 46.9 percent from the field – adding 32 percent shooting from outside the paint.
 
The season also saw the emergence of junior transfer Chanelle McDonald, arriving to the Maroon and Gold from Warner (Fla.) University. The Lake Wales, Florida, native accounted for 13 double-digit scoring performances in her first year at Daytona Beach, adding a team-best 47.5 percent shooting mark from the field. She also shot 75.6 percent from the foul, picking up an average of 9.5 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per contest across the campaign. Her 14 blocks were second on the team only behind front court teammate Clark.
 
Snowden was part of the staff that helped Bethune-Cookman Women’s Basketball finish the season with the most nonconference Division I victories since 2017-18, as the Wildcats won six. Overall, BCU had nine nonconference wins, including two wins at the Georgia State Classic in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
During the 2022-23 season for Bethune-Cookman, Snowden and the Wildcats advanced to their first ever Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament, earning the No. 6 seed in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
Snowden, a native of Pensacola, Florida, began her coaching career at her alma mater of East Tennessee State University in July 2020. She spent two years with the Buccaneers as an assistant coach, after spending one year as a graduate assistant throughout the 2019-20 season.
 
In her two-year playing career at ETSU, Snowden appeared in 64 games, averaging 22.1 minutes, just under 10 points per game and leading the Buccaneers in rebounding. As a senior, she brought down 6.2 rebounds per contest, adding a 47.6 percent shooting clip from the field and eclipsing 500 total points in her two-year career.
 
The Pine Forest High alum transferred to ETSU from Northwest Florida State, where she spent her freshman and sophomore season in 2015-16 and 2016-17, respectively. While at Northwest Florida, she was an NJCAA all-academic team member, in addition to being named a 2016 Panhandle Conference First Team selection and 2015-16 NWFSC President’s List honoree. That and more allowed her to participate in the 2016 NJCAA All-Star weekend.
 
Snowden graduated from East Tennessee State with honors from the Department of Sport, Exercise, Recreation and Kinesiology in 2019. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Public Health Administration at ETSU while serving under Head Coach Brittney Ezell and the Bucs program.
 
In high school, Snowden was tabbed Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 6-A Player of the Year in 2015. She also won the FHSAA Class 6-A State Championship with Pine Forest High. The daughter of Brad Snowden and Lakeisha Savage, Britney Snowden was born on July 29, 1997.
