Stephan Walton

Stephan Walton joined Bethune-Cookman University Women’s Basketball in August 2021.

Coach Walton brings over 10 years of coaching experience to the B-CU staff. He joined the Wildcats after a serving on the staff of Kennesaw State with Coach Janell Crayton for the 2020-21 season

Prior to his position with the Owls, Walton spent a short stint as an assistant coach for the Southwest DeKalb High School girls’ basketball team. Working under his mother Kathleen Richey-Walton at his alma mater, Stephan assisted the head coach in all coaching activities including scouting the opposition, preparing video sessions for the players and developing the team’s post players. 

Walton spent five years as an assistant to Julia Huddleston Tucker at Lynn University from 2015 to 2020. In his role at the Boca Raton, Fla. school, Walton took on roles in administration, budgeting, fundraising and public relations in addition to coaching the Division II program. He advised students in all academic areas, as well as helping maintain NCAA compliance and serving as a liaison between the team and its community. 

Walton also has experience as a head coach, taking the helm for the Elite Youth Basketball League’s Georgia Metros from 2012 to 2015. 

Walton is former captain and MVP for the University of Manitoba program, playing as a point guard for the Bisons. He also served as a video coordinator in his time in Winnipeg. Walton was an inclusion to the Canadian West Second Team in 2013. 

Walton also ran play from the point for Valdosta State University, being chosen into the Gulf South All-Tournament team in 2008.
