Junior Season (2012-13):
Played in 27 games during her first season with the Lady Wildcats, starting in two as a combination guard/forward…In her first NCAA game (Trinity Baptist, 11/9), Evans shot 5-of-9 (55.6 percent), tallying 12 points, five (5) rebounds and three (3) assists…Averaged 5.0 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while playing 17.7 minutes on average…Against South Carolina State (2/23), Evans shot .500 from the floor for career highs of 13 points and nine (9) rebounds…She made three (3) assists in three games and had a pair of steals twice.
Sophomore Season (2011-12):
In her final year under coach Ricky Rhodes at McClennan Community College, was third on the team in scoring with 8.2 points per game, but grabbed an average of 6.2 rebounds to lead the team, along with 1.6 steals per game...was named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region for the year, as MCC made it to the Regional Tournament aided by Evans' leadership as Team Captain.
Freshman Season (2010-11):
Played guard in her first year with the Highlassies of McClennan Community College...scored 4.3 points per game and grabbed 3.0 rebounds per game.
High School:
A four-year letter winner playing small forward for Azure Love-Davis' Lions at Waco High School, averaging seven (7) points, seven (7) rebounds, two (2) assists and one (1) steal per game...WHS finished with a 29-7 record in 2008-09, ending in the Regional Quarterfinal round of the Playoffs...for the season, Evans earned Super Cent-Tex Honorable Mention, in addition to First Team All-District honors; also earned First Team status in 2009-10...earned First Team All-Tournament honors at the 2009 Dr. Pepper Classic...was named Second Team All-District in 2006-07 and 2007-08...in 2009-10, earned Defensive MVP, WHS Female Athlete of the Year, Lion Heart Award and was selected for the Good Grades Good Hoops All-Star Game...in addition to all of that, Evans is a skilled multi-sport athlete, earning four letters in track & field, with Regional appearances from 2008-10, and three years of lettering in volleyball, with Second Team All-District honors in 2007-08 and 2009-10...very active in the classroom, earning National Honor Society top 20 percent, First Team All-Academic honors all four years of high school, President's Award...also very involved in extra-curricular activities beyond sports, including AVID, a stint as the Senior Class Secretary, serving as a SafeSchool Ambassador and a member of TAFE (Teacher Association for Future Educators).
Personal:
Born February 19, 1992 in Waco, Texas, she is the daughter of Zenia Evans and Granddaughter of Elmira Mason...recently has done community outreach reading to and mentoring children at Connally and the Miracle Match Kids Marathon...Notes her favorite athlete as Gabby Douglas, saying “even though she’s young, she had to sacrifice a lot to pursue her dreams. Her work ethic and drive are incredible and she is a great example of a strong black woman; she’s amazing”…Notes her most prized possession is the Bible that Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church gave her for school…Cites her mother and grandmother as her biggest influences because they taught her how to dream and achieve…She is majoring in Psychology at Bethune-Cookman and plans to use her degree to become a forensic psychologist.
