Ronnie McCullough Selected as MEAC Defensive Player of the Week

Oct. 1, 2007

Virginia Beach, Va. - After collecting a career-high 20 tackles over the weekend against Morgan State, linebacker Ronnie McCullough was named as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week as released by the conference office in Virginia Beach, Va.

McCullough, a strong-looking 6-foot-1, 230-pound inside linebacker from Tampa, Fla, picked up the most tackles in a game since Jamal Muhammad registered 23 stops against Morgan State back on Oct. 4, 2003.

The senior transferred into the B-CU program from USF just over a year ago, and has quickly become one of the leading tacklers in recent memory for the Wildcats in just a two-year span. Against Morgan State this past weekend, McCullough collected six solo stops and 14 assisted stops for his 20 total tackles on the afternoon.

This is the first MEAC Defensive Player of the Week award for Ronnie McCullough for the 2007 season.

Offensive Player of the Week honors went to Norfolk State's Casey Hansen , while Jeremy Wicker (Rookie of the Week) and teammate Jason Kressen (Offensive Lineman of the Week) picked up honors for the Spartans as well.

Howard's Dennis Wiehberg was tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week following a game-winning 28-yard field goal to lift the Bison over Winston-Salem State in overtime.
