BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second straight week, B-CU football takes home a SWAC weekly honor - this time Safety
Antwone Watts earns Defensive Player of the Week - it was announced Monday from the league office in Birmingham, Alabama.
Watts led the way for a B-CU defense that helped the Wildcats secure their first-ever win in a SWAC opener since joining the league in 2021. He racked up a game-high and career-high 13 tackles - 8 solo, five assists - as well as a forced fumble that was recovered by the Wildcats. The senior out of Columbus, Ga. also added a pass breakup.
It marks the first weekly honor of the career of Watts, who was named SWAC Preseason All-Conference First-Team, BOXTOROW HBCU All-American, and to the Black College Football Hall of fame Player of the Year Watah List.
The Wildcats head back out on the road this week as the face off with Alabama State on Saturday, October 4 in Montgomery, Alabama.
