Virginia Beach, Va. -
Bethune-Cookman University freshman guard Demetria Frank was recently selected as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball Rookie of the Week as released by the conference office in Virginia Beach, Va.
Frank, a 5-foot-9 freshman from the basketball-heavy city of Miami, Fla., led the Wildcats in scoring in their only game last week against Claflin (Division II). She posted 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, including one (1) three-point basket.
Frank dished out a team-high three assists and collected two steals on defense for the `Cats. B-CU lost the contest, however, 73-58 in Orangeburg, S.C. The contest was the second game of a two-game South Carolina stretch for the Wildcats.
This is the first MEAC Rookie of the Week award this season for Frank--a product of Miami's Jackson Senior High School.
Sophilia Hipps (South Carolina State) earned this week's MEAC Player of the Week award, while Taniyah Dawson (Florida A&M) was the MEAC Rookie of the Week.
The Wildcats host North Carolina Central University tonight at 5:30 pm inside Moore Gymnasium in Daytona Beach, Fla. For more information, please log on to the official B-CU athletic website at www.BCCathletics.com.
