Covering 2009 Wildcat Baseball

The 2009 media guide will assist you in your coverage of Bethune-Cookman University baseball.  Below is an outline of some of the services the Office of Sports Information provides to better assist you as you do your job.  Please feel free to contact the Wildcat Office of Sports Information for assistance.

PRESS CREDENTIALS

Press credentials are issued to members of the working media only.  Work space in the press box at Jackie Robinson Ballpark is limited.  Credential requests should be made in writing and on company letterhead to Mark Johnson at B-CU in advance of the season and/or individual games.  Please make credential requests at least 48 hours in advance.  All passes will be available in the Bethune-Cookman University Office of Sports Information 24 hours before the game and/or the day of the game up until two (3) hours before the start of the game.  You will need to pick up your parking credentials from the B-CU Office of Sports Information by 5 p.m. the day before the contest in which you will be in attendance.

TELEPHONES

There will be at least two working press box telephone lines for local, credit card or collect call use by members of the working media.  If you need additional phone services, please contact officials at Jackie Robinson Ballpark via the Daytona Cubs at (386) 257-3172.  When using the complimentary phones, just dial 9 and the number.  You will receive a second dial tone once you dial 9.

PRESS PARKING

Press parking is located at the Harbor Yacht Club across the street and adjacent to Jackie Robinson Ballpark.  Your parking pass must be visible while your car is in the baseball media lot, so please leave it hanging from your rearview mirror.  This lot also serves as the staff parking lot for Bethune-Cookman University athletics, the Harbor Yacht Club and Daytona Cubs, so an early arrival is suggested.

PRESS BOX SERVICE

Final box scores will be distributed to the media at the completion of the game.  Updated Bethune-Cookman statistics will also be available at your request following each game.

Mervyl Melendez CLUBHOUSE OFFICE

In conjunction with the Daytona Cubs, the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats will be using the home locker room of the Daytona Cubs as their official clubhouse throughout the 2009 season.  The manager office will serve as the official locker room and office of Mervyl Melendez, head coach of the B-CU Wildcats.  All interviews with Melendez will take place inside of his office, with the assistance of Office of Sports Information representatives.  Interviews may be done on the field immediately after the game if time constraints are an issue for deadlines.

VISITING RADIO

B-CU provides courtesy lines for visiting radio.  The visiting radio location is on the left-hand side of the radio section of the press box.  There is plenty of room for two radio personalities, and a third can fit if necessary.  For the visiting radio line number, or if additional lines are needed, please contact officials at Jackie Robinson Ballpark via the Daytona Cubs at (386) 257-3172.   The press box phone number is (386) 226-3362, should you need an emergency number to give to your station.

FAX SERVICE

If you need a box score faxed, please provide the fax number to a B-CU Sports Information representative at some point during the game.  The boxes should be faxed within an hour following the game.

PHOTOGRAPHERS

In accordance with NCAA rules and regulations, all photographers are required to shoot from inside the photo boxes marked on the playing field.  The boxes are behind home plate on both the left and right sides.
