VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Building onto an already strong season, Matt Johnson's performance against North Carolina A&T last Thursday earned him additional honors. Johnson was named MEAC Offensive Player of the week, officials from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced Monday. This is the fourth time this season that Johnson has collected conference offensive accolades.

Johnson connected on 9-of-12 passes for 154 yards and one touchdown as he fueled the Wildcats to a 67-17 victory over North Carolina A&T on ESPNU.  He also rushed 10 times for 137 yards with two touchdowns and accounted for 291 total offensive yards, despite not playing after the 14:03 mark in the third quarter.

Thus far this season, Johnson has outdone all of his previous seasons combined; rushing for 632 yards on 106 carries, with seven touchdowns. In the passing game, he has made his biggest strides of improvement, completing 108 passes for 1,590 yards and 11 touchdowns.

BLOOMSBURG, Penn. - In addition to earning the MEAC nod, Johnson also earned recognition again as Honorable Mention NCAA Division I FCS National Quarterback Performer of the Week, as selected by the College Football Performance Awards.
