DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - One Bethune-Cookman team will try do to something it hasn't done since 2004 while another tries to achieve something that hasn't happened in 34 years when both Wildcat basketball squads host Florida A&M Thursday in Moore Gym.
The Lady Wildcats want to end a 13-game losing streak to FAMU at 2 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., theWildcat men will go for their 20th win of the season. The last B-CU men's team to win 20 games was the 1976-77 squad that finished 21-5.
The women (13-13,5-9) snapped a three-game losing skid on Monday with a 66-60 overtime victory against North Carolina Central. B-CU, which concludes its season Saturday against Maryland Eastern Shore in Durham, N.C., is currently in eighth place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings, one game behind UMES. FAMU (14-13,8-7) won the first meeting 68-56 back in December.
On the men's side, B-CU (19-11, 12-3) clinched the MEAC regular season championship Monday, but is looking to maintain the momentum of a six-game winning streak entering next week's tournament. The Wildcats also want to avoid losing at home to the Rattlers (12-18,7-8) for the second straight year.
The men's game will be audiocasted on www.goliathradio.com and in-game twitter updates can be accessed at twitter.com/bcuathletics.
