DES MOINES, Iowa – Senior hurdler Kemar Clarke wrapped up his Wildcat career in Thursday's 110 meter semifinal at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, on the campus of Drake University. Clarke turned in a time of 13.87 to finish 17th among the championship field.

The Brooklyn, N.Y. native faced a tough challenge at the championship event, being placed in the fastest heat, which boasted four qualifiers for Friday's final; all other heats posted two.

A subtle flinch earned Clarke a green card from the official. Coaches noted it may have affected his concentration, as his break from the blocks wasn't quick enough and he was beaten to the first hurdle, forcing him to make up ground.

He ran a time of 13.87 to finish 17th overall. As a junior, he finished 19th nationally in the event.

“It was an honor to coach Kemar and he represented B-CU extremely well throughout his career here,” said Head Coach Donald Cooper. “It earned him back to back National Championship appearances.”

With his collegiate career now complete, Clarke turns his sights toward Olympic opportunities, already qualified for the Jamaican National Olympic Trials. The event will take place on June 24 in Kingston, Jamaica.
