BALTIMORE, Md. - Former Bethune-Cookman standout Stevie Baggs, Jr. signed with the Baltimore Ravens Saturday.
Baggs, a key member of the Wildcats' 2002 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship team, as well as the career sacks leader with 40, last played for the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League. In 2009, Baggs appeared in the Grey Cup and was named a Western Conference All-Star while with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders.
He previously had brief NFL stints with the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals.
Baggs will aid a Ravens squad that's going through some injury woes at the linebacker position during training camp, the Baltimore Sun reports. Three Raven linebackers have missed practice time so far.
Four other former Wildcats are currently in NFL training camps: Rashean Mathis and Ryan Davis with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Eric Weems with the Chicago Bears and Jean Fanor with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Attempts to contact Baggs have been unsuccessful so far. Visit b-cuathletics.com again for updates.
