DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman assistant track & field coach Reava Potter has been selected to receive a grant from the United States Olympic Committee (OSOC) and will attend the USOC's Ethnic and Minority Women in Coaching Leadership Conference (EMWICL ) in Colorado.
Entering her second year with the program and coaching jumps, hurdles and multi-events for the Wildcats, Potter saw her event groups make significant improvements through the outdoor season and she aided Martin Embry III to a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) outdoor title in the decathlon. Potter recently added a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Level II certification in jumps and coached hurdlers at the Villanova Track & Field Camp during the summer.
The USOC will host the EMWICL conference November 5-7 at the Colorado Springs U.S. Olympic Training Center.
“I'm very excited to receive this opportunity to enhance myself as a coach and learn from others in the profession who have been in the coaching world for a while,” Potter said. “I can learn a lot from this conference and bring back knowledge to not only help me become a better coach, but also help the program.”
