ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Three Bethune-Cookman student-athletes will join the ranks of the national elite this weekend, as they compete for at the USA Track & Field Indoor Track & Field Championships, Saturday (Feb. 22) and Sunday (Feb. 23) at the ABQ Convention Center.
Underclassmen Tristie Johnson and Michael Tiller were joined by junior Tremayne Banks in their qualification for the national indoor championships event. Johnson reached qualification in the women's 60m dash, recording a top time this season of 7.42 seconds. Tiller will compete in the triple jump, carrying a top mark of 15.41m (50-5.6 ft.). Banks joins the pair to compete in the 60m hurdles with a season-best time of 7.86 seconds.
The men's 60m hurdles first round is schedule to run on Saturday (Feb. 22) at 2 p.m. EST, with the semi-finals scheduled for Sunday (Feb. 23) at 2:05 p.m. EST and finals set for 4:46 p.m. EST. The women's 60m dash first round is scheduled for at 2:40 p.m. EST on Saturday, followed by the semi-final on Sunday at 1:20 p.m. EST and finals to follow at 4:31 p.m. EST The men's triple jump opens on Sunday at 3:10 p.m. EST.
Sunday's final day of competition will be broadcast through various media, with the day opening at 12:45 EST through a live webcast on USATF.tv. From 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EST, the meet will air on Universal Sports, and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, the coverage will continue on NBC Sports Network. Field events will run on usatf.tv during the television window. Check your local listings for channel availability.
