JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Over 250 NCAA member institutions sponsor Division I track and field teams, and each year, these teams hope to compete in the championship meet. With over 20 events for both men and women, the championship meet will cap off an exciting outdoor season.
The NCAA first rounds run Wednesday, May 28, through Saturday, May 31. Both the DI men's and women's first rounds are held simultaneously.
The meets will be held in two locations for the east and west regions. The NCAA East first round will be located in Jacksonville, Florida, with North Florida serving as the host school. The NCAA West first roundwill be located in College Station, Texas, with Texas A&M serving as the host school.
The top 12 competitors from each individual event and the top 12 teams from each relay event advance from each first round. The list of qualifiers from each event contested in the first rounds will be announced by 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 1. The final list of the championship competition participants will be announced by 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 3.
Junior
Sha'Nard Walker and Freshman
Xavier Bogan have been nothing short of incredible for the Wildcats this season.
Walker has broken a B-CU record in the 200m and been nationally ranked. He's also had several first place finishes on the year. Additionally, Bogan has had several first place finishes in the long jump and been nationally ranked - he's also come up strong in the triple jump.
The Walker/Bogan duo will compete in the East First Round of the Track & Field Championships in the 200m/400m and long jump.
Shanard Walker currently sits in the 18th spot in the 200m with a seed mark of 20.44 and 19th in the 400m with a seed mark of 45.73.
Xavier Bogan sits 25th in the long jump with a seed mark of 7.70m.

Garon Jackson is proud of his team and looks forward to more success.
"Shanard Walker has shown the hard work and desire to be on top of the 200m/400m nationally", he says. " I'm happy he decided to move up to the 400m after indoor season because it made him a better all around athlete. I expect big things from him at the NCAA Track & Field East Regionals in Jacksonville.
