MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - After three weeks of preparation, the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman track & field are back in competition, heading to the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina University.
Turning in a program-high finish at the MEAC Indoor Championships, the Wildcats opened the outdoor season on a strong note at the FAMU Relays and look to build on those performances with the second meet of the outdoor season, making their first appearance in Myrtle Beach. However, the coaching staff already is looking to get the squad set for the MEAC Outdoor Championships in May.
“First and foremost, we're making this trip to give out multi athletes an opportunity to qualify for our conference meet, and a chance to get our relays out on the track,” Director of Track & Field Donald Cooper said.
During the break, the Wildcats took advantage of the training time.
“It was a great opportunity for us to double-up on some stuff and really push the athletes hard, knowing that we had time to allow them to recover,” Cooper said.
Competition begins on Thursday (March 20) at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium and runs through Saturday, March 22.
