DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – Bethune-Cookman volleyball dominated its 2016 Senior Day as the Wildcats swept North Carolina Central, 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-10) to cap off the regular-season, Sunday, Nov. 6 in South Daytona Beach, Florida at Warner Christian.
The Wildcat's dominance held NCCU to only 17 team kills, while the Eagles hit .025 during the three-set match.
Rookie
Alana Handy fell five kills short of out hitting NCCU, leading the match with 13 kills and eight digs.
Also on the offensive end,
Rakaya Neely added nine kills and seniors
Lauren Turner and
Jill Arlaud added eight each. Turner also finished the match perfect offensively on her 15 attempts, hitting .533.
Junior
Phalen Clark paced the Wildcat offense finishing with 42 assists, adding five digs, two kills and a block.
Senior
Phylecia Armstrong matched the visitor's effort on the net finishing with five blocks, including three solo blocks.
On the defensive end, senior
Normarie Rolon Soto collected 18 digs, while
Ajsha Davie added three and two service aces.
The Wildcats now wait for seeding for the 2016 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Championship, beginning Friday Nov. 18 in Princess Anne, Maryland.
