ATHENS, Georgia – Bethune-Cookman volleyball dropped a pair of matches in Athens, Georgia during the final day of the Bulldog Invitational, falling 3-0 to South Alabama and 3-2 to McNeese State, Saturday, Sept. 17.
MATCH ONE
During the morning, the Wildcats dropped a straight-set match to South Alabama, falling 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-22).
Rookie
Alana Handy led BCU finishing with a team-high nine kills and 10 digs.
Phalen Clark collected her second double-double of the season finishing with 13 assists and a team-best 11 digs.
On the defensive end,
Normarie Rolon Soto added 10 digs, while junior
Rakaya Neely finished with two blocks.
Four Jaguars finished with double-digit kills, led by Iva Durdanovic's 16 kills and 12 digs and paced by Kellyn Reeves 20 helpers.
MATCH TWO
Wrapping up the day, BCU fell in five (21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 15-6), to the Cowgirls.
Rookie
Alana Handy collected her third double-double of the season with a team-best 14 kills and 19 digs, while
Alondra Bautista earned her second double-double of the year with 12 kills and a match high 24 digs.
Phyleica Armstrong and
Rakaya Neely added 11 additional kills for the BCU offense, as Armstrong finished with five blocks.
Clark earned her second double-double of the day finishing with 22 helpers and 10 digs, has
J'nai Higgins added 29 assists and 13 digs.
Also on the defensive end,
Normarie Rolon Soto collected 20 digs.

The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 20 as Bethune-Cookman travels to DeLand, Florida, facing Stetson at 7 p.m.
