SOUTH DAYTONA, Florida – Bethune-Cookman volleyball remained perfect in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play, as the Wildcats opened league play 2-0, finishing the weekend with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-8, 25-14) sweep over South Carolina State, Sunday, Sept. 25 at Warner Christian Academy in South Daytona, Florida.
Alondra Bautista continued to lead the BCU offense, nearly outhitting the Bulldogs on her own with 10 kills and seven digs, compared to SCSU's 13 total team kills.
Fellow junior
Rakaya Neely and senior
Jill Arlaud trailed Bautista with eight kills apiece, as Neely collected two blocks and Arlaud picked up five digs.
Pacing the Wildcat's offense,
Phalen Clark dished 19 helpers with nine digs, while
J'nai Higgins finished with 14 assists, seven digs and five service aces.
Defensively,
Normarie Rolon Soto earned nine digs and
Phylecia Armstrong finished with two blocks.
Bethune-Cookman returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 27 during a non-conference home match with FGCU at 7 p.m., in South Daytona, Florida.
