JACKSONVILLE – Alondra Bautista posted 20 kills and 20 digs in Bethune-Cookman's 3-2 (22-25,25-19,18-25,25-20,15-12) loss at Jacksonville Tuesday night.
The senior from Carolina, Puerto Rico registered B-CU's first 20-20 since Delicia Pierre did it at North Carolina A&T in 2014. It was her career high kills and third time she's had 20 or more digs.
Rakaya Neely added 10 kills and six blocks for the Wildcats (4-8) as the slipped to 1-2 in 5-set matches this season. Now with 312 career blocks, Neely moved past Vonnette Simpson (308) into second on B-CU's all-time block list and is now six away from breaking
Phylecia Armstrong's mark of 317.
Natilie Wehner had 20 kills and 16 digs as Jacksonville (9-7) won the fourth set to extend the match, then turned a 6-5 deficit into a 10-6 lead in the fifth.
Bethune-Cookman closed to 12-11 on a Bautista kill but could pull no closer.
