Hardee's 20 Paces @BCUWBB Rally Past GCU 69-60

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Briana Hardee's 20 points led four Bethune-Cookman players in double figures Sunday afternoon as the Lady Wildcats downed Grand Canyon 69-60 in Historic Moore Gym.

Chasimmie Brown posted a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double, Brianna Battle 14 points and Ashanti Hunt 11 for Bethune-Cookman, who outscored Grand Canyon 27-7 in the third quarter.

Hardee and Brown scored 11 points on a 13-0 run that gave Bethune-Cookman (4-2) a  41-33 lead with 2:57 remaining in the third period. After a Grand Canyon (2-6) basket, the Lady Wildcats went on another 13-0 run that made it 54-35 on a Hardee jumper with 7:46 to play.

Grand Canyon closed to 59-55 on two August Touchard free throws with 3:35 left, but Battle, a freshman, made consecutive three-pointers to push Bethune-Cookman's lead back to 69-59.

The Antelopes had a 26-21 lead late in the first half, but Hunt sank a half-court buzzer beater that closed the deficit to 26-24 at halftime.
Brie Mobley led the Antelopes with 18 points.

Bethune-Cookman hosts Palm Beach Atlantic next Sunday.

NOTES:  The 27-point third quarter was B-CU's highest scoring quarter this year...B-CU was 11-18 (61.5 percent) from the field in the third and 6-11 (54.5) in the fourth...This was the third time this season B-CU had a double-figure (+14) rebound advantage...Hardee and Battle were both making their first starts...Brown has been in double figure scoring all six games; this was her second double-double...Battle had eight assists.
