NORFOLK, Va. –
Catoria Sirmon and Michael Tiller each were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Field Athletes of the Week on both the men's and women's side, announced Wednesday by the league office in Norfolk, Virginia.
Tiller (Sr., Tampa, Fla.) took first place, at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational, in the triple jump with a distance of 15.98 meters (52-5.25 feet). He holds the top jump in the nation and MEAC as a result. Tiller also competed in the javelin throw (43.19m) and the high jump (1.90m), placing sixth in both events. Michael Tiller opened up his outdoor season at this meet following his 14th place finish at NCAA Indoor Championships, where he garnered 2nd Team All-American Status. His jump at the Miami Collegiate Invitational is currently #1 in the Nation in the Triple jump of all NCAA, #1 in the East Region, and #1 in the MEAC. Tiller also competed in the javelin throw placing sixth (43.19) and also competing in the high jump with a measure of 1.90m.
Sirmon (Sr., Fort Myers, Fla.) set a new personal record in the shot put at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational. Her distance of 15.22 meters earned her third place at the meet. Sirmon currently ranks 34th nationally and first in the MEAC.
Catoria Sirmons has a new outdoor PR in Outdoor Shot Put, as she equaled her Indoor distance in the Shot Put. Her performance currently ranks #31 in the Nation, #21 in the East Region and #1 in the MEAC.Sirmon, 2017 MEAC Indoor Champion won the bronze in the shot put throwing a distance of 15.22m.
