@BCUWBB Announces Arrival of Amaya Scott

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University Head Women's Basketball Coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis announced today [April 27, 2017] that Amaya Scott has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the two-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season champions for the 2017-18 season.

A 6-1 forward/center, Scott averaged 17 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.6 blocks for Piper HS (Fla.) last season and 13.1 points and 10.3 rebounds her junior year.

She was named to the Ft. Lauderdale News-Sun Sentinel's 9A-7A team her senior season and was a Third Team All Broward County selection the year before.

"We are excited for Amaya's arrival. She is a passionate player with a true love for the game," Blair-Lewis said. "She has a nice touch around the basket, can hit the short jumper and is a good shot blocker."

Bethune-Cookman posted a 21-11 record last season – its highest win total since 1985 – and played in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament championship for the first time in 25 years. The Wildcats participated in the WNIT for the second straight year.
