TAMPA – Jordan Jefferson had a career-high 23 kills in Bethune-Cookman's 3-1 (27-29,25-21,25-20,25-19) loss at South Florida Tuesday night.
The freshman also posted 14 digs, marking the ninth time in as many matches she's recorded a double-double.
Bethune-Cookman (2-7) had six kills and six blocks from
Faith Landreneaux, while
Miranda White and
Jai Chapman added five kills apiece. Setter
Phalen Clark had 41 assists and 17 digs, while libero
Rechez Lindsay also finished with 17 digs.
Doris Carter had 21 kills for USF (5-7).
Jefferson and Landreneaux combined for a block to give B-CU the opening set win after the Wildcats saw their 24-22 set point fade, but the Wildcats denied the Bulls on three set points to take the victory.
B-CU was down 8-0 at the start of the second set, but managed an early 13-12 on an
Alana Handy kill.
The Wildcats open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play Friday evening at Savannah State.
