@BCUvolleyball Drops N.C. A&T 3-0 On Senior Day

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Tynesha Adams had eight kills and four blocks as Bethune-Cookman downed North Carolina A&T 3-0 (25-20,25-20,25-19) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division match Sunday in Moore Gym.

The Lady Wildcats (13-13 overall, 5-2 MEAC) celebrated Senior Day by avenging an earlier loss to the Aggies (9-11,4-3) and setting up a Friday night match at Florida A&M that could serve as the defacto Southern Division title match.

Jordan Jefferson added six kills and 14 digs and  Shayla Eugene had 14 digs as the Wildcats remained unbeaten (15-0) in Moore Gym in the Brittany Williams era. Sunday's victory also marked Williams' 50th head coaching victory.

 J'nai Higgins and Meraiah Hill were honored in pre-match ceremonies. Higgins finished with 27 assists and nine digs while Hill posted five digs along with Faith Landreneaux.

Bethune-Cookman erased a 6-2 deficit in the first set and turned a 9-5 deficit into a 14-10 lead in the second.  In the final set, the Lady Wildcats pulled away from a 15-14 lead and took a 21-15 lead when Jefferson and Landreneaux combined on a block.

Courteney Pitt, the MEAC's leading scoring, finished with 18 kills.

Bethune-Cookman concludes its home schedule Tuesday night against Jacksonville.

NOTES: Jefferson closed to within five of the single-season block record of 397 while Hill is four blocks away from that single-season mark of 104 … The Lady Wildcats have held opponents under .100 hitting in their last five wins … B-CU had just 29 kills, capitalizing on an 11-2 blocking advantage as well as nine Aggie serving errors to compensate.  Rich Lefebvre, the team's bus driver and Interim Headmaster at Warner Christian Academy, served as Honorary Coach.
