DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Jordan Jefferson had 17 kills and 21 digs as Bethune-Cookman snapped a four-match losing streak with a 3-1 (25-23,25-18,21-25,25-18) victory over Florida A&M Friday in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division match Friday in Historic Moore Gym.
J'nai Higgins posted 38 assists and 18 digs, and
Shayla Eugene had a career-high 25 digs as the Lady Wildcats (8-9 overall, 1-2) defeated the Rattlers (3-13,2-1) in Moore Gym for the third consecutive time. This was Bethune-Cookman's first home match of the year.
Skyla Whitaker added seven kills and 12 digs,
Sterling Williamson seven kills and nine digs and
Micaiah Hill 15 digs for Bethune-Cookman, who pulled away from a 10-10 tie into a 22-13 fourth set lead after Florida A&M took the third set.
Bethune-Cookman jumped to an early 10-6 first set lead and maintained that lead until Florida A&M closed to 21-20. Three unanswered Wildcat points put B-CU within one point, which it eventually got on a Rattler service error.
In the second set, the Wildcats had leads of 15-7 and 19-9.
Radka Dimitrova led the Rattlers with 18 kills.
B-CU hosts Florida International Sunday at 1 p.m.
