TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jordan Jefferson and
Sterling Williamson matched career highs with 23 and 21 kills, respectively, but Florida A&M downed Bethune-Cookman 3-1 (25-23,17-25,25-21,28-26) in a key Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division match Friday evening.
Maria Yvette Garcia had 23 kills as the Rattlers (8-14 overall, 7-1 MEAC) took a two-match lead over the Lady Wildcats (13-15,5-3) with two regular season matches remaining for the Division's No. 1 seed at the conference tournament in two weeks.
Jordan also had 18 digs for her 29th career double-double.
J'nai Higgins finished with 35 assists and 17 digs,
Shayla Eugene 16 digs and
Meraiah Hill six blocks as she set the single-season block record. She now has 114, eclipsing the  old mark of 108 by
Phylecia Armstrong in 2016.
Bethune-Cookman closes the season next week at South Carolina State Friday and Savannah State Sunday.
