DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Isaiah Bailey scored a career-high 24 points as Bethune-Cookman downed Maryland-Eastern Shore 87-67 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon on Coach Cy Court in Historic Moore Gym.
Bailey went 11-12 from the free throw line, and also had seven assists, six rebounds and four steals as the Wildcats (13-12, 7-3) shot 53.1 percent from the field in the first half to take a 41-29 halftime.
Maryland-Eastern Shore (6-20,3-9) made 11 of its first 12 shots in the second half to close to 56-54 on a Miryne Thomas field goal with 11:05 remaining.
Bailey then scored six points on an 11-0 Bethune-Cookman run that made it 67-54 on two Bailey free throws with 8:28 left. Maryland-Eastern Shore only four of its final 20 shots as the Wildcats pulled away.
Brandon Tabb scored 16 points, while
Shawntrez Davis double-doubled with 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Wildcats enjoyed a 40-27 rebounding advantage. Soufiyane Diakate finished with eight points and 10 rebounds, while
Armani Collins and
Houston Smith added nine each.
Thomas and Tyler Jones each had 21 points for the Hawks.
Bethune-Cookman hosts North Carolina Central Monday.
