HUNTSVILLE, Tex. – Bethune-Cookman concluded its Texas tour Saturday with 3-0 losses to Drake (25-16,25-19,25-18) and host Sam Houston State (25-20,25-16,25-23) at the Sam Houston State Invitational.
Jordan Jefferson (11 kills, 15 digs) and
J'nai Higgins (14 assists and a career-high 14 digs) double-doubled for the Lady Wildcats (1-2) against Sam Houston State.
Shayla Eugene had 13 digs, while
Faith Landreneaux posted seven kills and five blocks.
Against Drake, Jefferson had six kills and 15 digs, while Eugene and
Skyla Whitaker (five kills) each posted 10 digs.
The Lady Wildcats had a late 22-20 lead in the third set, but the host Bearkats (2-1) closed the match with a 4-1 run. In the second set, SHSU used an 11-0 run to eliminate a 14-11 B-CU lead.
B-CU had early 3-1 and 4-0 leads on Drake (3-0) in the second and third sets.
The trip was a homecoming for Head Coach
Brittany Williams, a Houston native and five Lady Wildcats with Texas ties.
