@BCUvolleyball Wins 3rd Straight With 3-1 Triumph Over CSU

DELAND, Fla. -- Miranda White and Jordan Jefferson each had 16 kills and double-doubled as Bethune-Cookman downed Chicago State 3-1 (28-26,25-13,22-25,25-16) in the Stetson Invitational Friday afternoon in the Edmunds Center.

White, a junior, posted career-high with the kills as well as her 13 digs. Jefferson, a sophomore, registered her 19th career double-double with 11 digs.

J'nai Higgins posted 27 assists and 14 digs as the Lady Wildcats (6-5) went above .500 after 11 matches for the first time since 2001 with their third straight win and fourth in their last fifth. Shayla Eugene finished with a season-high 24 digs.

Chicago State (6-8) led the first set 17-9, but Bethune-Cookman rallied and took a 23-22 on a White kill. After being denied on three set points, the Lady Wildcats took the set on an attack error.

White had five kills and Tynesha Adams three in the second set as Bethune-Cookman pulled away from a 13-11 lead with six unanswered points.

In the fourth set, B-CU turned a 4-3 deficit into a 9-4 lead on a Jefferson lead, then scored seven straight points en route to a 23-8 advantage.

Delaine Fulton had nine kills and seven blocks for B-CU, Adams six kills and Meraiah Hill five kills and four blocks.

B-CU continues play in the Stetson Invitational Saturday against Brown at 2:30 p.m.

NOTES: This was B-CU's fourth September victory, the Lady Wildcats had won three in each of the three Septembers of the Brittany Williams era ... B-CU now 5-1 on Fridays this season and 21-20 in the Williams era ... Chicago State's .038 hitting percentage was the second lowest for an opponent this season ... B-CU had 12 total blocks, its second-best total of the season ... Higgins matched her season digs high.
