@BCUTRACKXC Women Receive Top 60 Preseason National Ranking

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --  The Bethune-Cookman Women's Track Team will begin the 2019 Indoor Season ranked 59th in the nation, the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches of America has announced.

The preseason rankings have the Lady Wildcats as both the highest ranked team from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference as well as the highest ranked HBCU. Last year's squad finished tied for 62nd with Clemson, Nebraska, Michigan and 13 other schools.  BCU started the 2018 season ranked 76th.

Quamecha Morrison comes in with a preseason ranking of seventh in the high jump. She placed 10th in the national at NCAA indoors last year.

"It's encouraging to see our women's team with a top 60 preseason ranking in the country." Said BCU Head Coach Donald Cooper. "A true testament how great my staff and student-athletes are here at BCU. There are a lot of D-1 programs out there. I am extremely excited about this group of young women and what they are capable of accomplishing this season."

BCU opens its indoor season next weekend at the USC Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C.
