NORFOLK, Va. -- Amaya Scott and
Angel Golden each scored 11 points in Bethune-Cookman's 57-50 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference loss to Norfolk State Monday night.
NSU's Kendrea Dawkins posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double to help the Spartans (9-8 overall, 4-0 MEAC) send the Lady Wildcats (8-7,1-2) to consecutive conference setbacks for the first time since 2016.
Trailing 49-32 at the outset of the fourth quarter, BCU closed to 51-43 on Golden's three-pointer with 5:55 that ended an 11-2 run. Norfolk State built the lead back to 12, and BCU could never get closer than the final margin.
Scott, a sophomore, matched her career and season high with her 5-9 shooting and one free throw. Golden, a senior, surpassed
Kailyn Williams (1,099) for eighth on the BCU's all-time scoring in the first half and recorded her 200th career three-pointer in the fourth. Golden now has 1,106 career points.
Chasimmie Brown finished with 10 points for BCU, which concluded a six-game road swing.
The Lady Wildcats return to campus Saturday for their MEAC home opener, facing Delaware State at 2 p.m.
