DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Angel Golden scored 27 points as Bethune-Cookman snapped a two-game losing streak and remained unbeaten at home with a 67-55 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over Delaware State Saturday afternoon.
The senior from Tampa matched her career-high of seven three-pointers as the Lady Wildcats (9-7 overall, 2-2 MEAC) scored the game's first eight points -- six by her -- and jumped out to a 19-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
BCU took its biggest lead at 39-22 with 5:20 remaining in the third quarter on a
Chasimmie Brown lay-up.
Delaware State(3-13,1-4) closed to 57-53 on a Keke Barber three-pointer with 3:23 remaining, but a
Camary Harris free throw and Aramani Walker lay-up pushed the BCU lead up to 60-53. A NaJai Pollard jumper got it back to five points with 1:48 to play, but BCU closed the game with a 7-0 run.
Harris, a freshman, posted 12 points and seven rebounds. Brown had nine points and seven rebounds, while
Amaya Scott had eight points, five rebounds and three steals.
Pollard, the conference's leading scoring and second-leading rebound, finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds, four points under her scoring average.
BCU hosts Maryland-Eastern Shore Monday at 2 p.m.
