The thing about the opening weekend for Bethune-Cookman Head Coach
Donald Cooper was getting his team in a rhythm as it embarks on its 2019 season.
He'll take those first-place finishes and best Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference times, though. Wildcats tracksters registered four first-place finishes at the Gamecock Inaugural meet at the University of South Carolina.
"It was not 100% what we hoped for from a few people but as a team, we are pleased with our direction, Cooper said. "Certain individuals will definitely need to step up their mental approach to the training program in order to reach their set goals. It was a great opportunity to see what adjustments need to be made with training and event assignments."
Morrison's 5'8 ¾ high jump marked the second year in a row she's won an event on opening weekend. Nichols covered 19' 6 ¾ on her long jump as both she and Morrison ended opening weekend with Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference best marks.
