DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jordan Jefferson registered her 1,000
th career dig and
Sterling Williamson and
Miranda White paced the seniors on Senior Night as Bethune-Cookman snapped a five-match losing skid with a 3-0 (25-10,25-17,25-18) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over South Carolina State Friday.
Jefferson, a junior from San Antonio, became the third player in program history to reach 1,000 digs and the first to do it as junior with her first one of the evening as she finished with nine kills and 15 digs.
Willamson, one of four seniors honored, had nine kills and three blocks. Senior
Miranda White added eight kills and 10 digs while senior libero
Shayla Eugene posted nine digs.
Among the underclassmen, junior
Faith Landreneaux had six blocks while sophomore setter
Kortney Curtis finished with 31 assists.
BCU (7-19 overall, 4-7 MEAC) hit .389 as a team and pulled with one match of North Carolina Central for second place in the MEAC's Southern Division.
Alexus Holt led the Bulldogs (0-22, 0-9) with 10 kills.
The Lady Wildcats host North Florida in their home finals Tuesday.
