DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Angel Golden scored 26 points,
Amaya Scott double-doubled with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and
Camary Harris added 11 points as Bethune-Cookman pulled away to a 76-63 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory Monday night in Moore Gym.
The victory made Golden, a senior from Tampa, the undisputed victory leader in program history with 77. The 1983-87 teams won 76 games, but participation records are inconclusive.
Bethune-Cookman (14-9 overall, 7-4 MEAC) saw its 34-29 halftime deficit fade into third quarter deficits of 38-37 and 40-39, but an
Amani Ball jumper with 4:21 remaining in the third started a 15-0 that gave the Lady Wildcats a 54-40 advantage one minute into the fourth quarter.
Howard (13-9,6-4) never got closer than 11 points down the stretch.
Trailing by as many as seven early, BCU used a 14-2 run to take its five-point halftime advantage.
Golden also had eight rebounds and three steals for the Lady Wildcats, who lost 61-40 at Howard on Jan. 12. Scott, a sophomore, posted her second double-double of the season while Harris, a freshman, went 7-10 from the line in the fourth quarter.
Chasimmie Brown (nine rebounds) and
Armani Walker each had seven points, and Walker also had four rebounds and four assists. Ball added six points.
Ayonna Walker led Howard with 21 points.
BCU travels to South Carolina State Saturday.
