COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Dominic Harper is back to form.
Hampered by injuries this indoor season, the four-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference pole vault champion officially qualified for next week Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship, and did it with the league's best result this weekend at the USC Open hosted by the University of South Carolina.
Though his 14 feet, 11 ½ leap placed him eighth Saturday, it establishes the senior as the favorite to defend his title next week in Landover, Md.
Sophomore Monae' Nichols also reaffirmed her status in the long jump, with her winning leap of 19'9 also being the MEAC's top effort.
Quamecha Morrison, ranked 12th in the nation in the high jump, won that event this weekend and also qualified for the 60 with a 7.54.
Also making the most of the final regular season indoor meet was freshman Jayla Hill in the weight throw.
In the distance events,
Deja Davis (5:12.32 in the mile) and
Daniel Kiptoo (4:22.33 in the mile) both registered PRs .
