DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In its final game before opening Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play, Bethune-Cookman fell 8-0 to UConn Wednesday at Sunnyland Park.

The Wildcats (9-22) had a two-game winning streak snapped as the Huskies (9-13) jumped out to a 6-0 first inning lead.

Jacki Smith registered BCU's lone hit. Cheyenne Smith reached base safely twice on walks.

BCU loaded the bases in the third after Jackie Smith singled, Cheyenne Smith walked and Brianna Paysinger was hit by a pitch, but could not manage a run.

The Wildcats open defense of their 2018 MEAC title with a three-game series at Savannah State beginning with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
