WICHITA, Kan. – A seven-run fourth inning helped Wichita State take an 11-4 victory over Bethune-Cookman Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats (9-19) saw a 4-3 lead fade as the Shockers (15-12) capitalized on two BCU errors during their seven-run outburst.
"I thought we did a very good job in that second inning to score four runs and to knock out their starter," said BCU Head Coach
Jonathan Hernandez. "We have to be more consistent offensively. We also must play clean defense, and execute our pitches in order to avoid the big innings."
BCU took a 4-1 lead in the second inning on RBIs from
Clarence Carter,
Nate Sterijevski and
Zach Spivey.
Liam Eddy earned the win for Wichita State.
Seth Lovell (2-2) took the loss for BCU.
Bryan Melendez threw one and two-third innings of no-hit relief, while
Carlos Lequerica worked the final three innings, giving up one run and four hits.
The three-game series concludes
Sunday at noon.
