DELAND, Fla. -- One of Bethune-Cookman's best days at the plate this season was spoiled as the Lady Wildcats were swept by Stetson in a doubleheader Tuesday at Patricia Wilson Field.
The Hatters (14-19) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh for an 8-7 decision in the opener, then used a five-run fifth to take the nightcap 6-4
Bethune-Cookman (12-25) posted a season-high 15 hits in the opener and 10 in the nightcap -- all singles.
GAME ONE
Briana Paysinger had four hits and drove in three runs with two of those coming in the Wildcats' three-run second.
Alexis Bermudez and
Kaiya Epps-Lee each had an RBI single in the fifth to give BCU a 5-3 lead, then Paysinger registered her third RBI in the sixth and
Yvonne Siordia scored on an error in the seventh.
Epps-Lee went 3-5, while
Cheyenne Smith and Siordia each had two hits for the Wildcats, who stranded 14 in the opener.

Paysinger's two-run single started a BCU seventh-inning rally, followed
Cheyenne Smith scoring on an error and
Sasha Killings plating Paysinger with a sacrifice fly.

Cheyenne Smith, Paysinger and Quinah Mitchell each had two hits for BCU in the second game.

BCU returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend, hosting South Carolina State for a three-game series. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. with Sunday's first pitch slated for noon.
