GREENSBORO, N.C. –A troublesome fourth inning proved to be the separation point as Bethune-Cookman fell to North Carolina A&T State, 5-3, Friday at War Memorial Stadium.
BCU (15-29, 8-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) endured a rain delay of over two-and-a-half hours after Anthony Maldonado found his groove.
NCA&T (22-18, 10-5) scored three in the fourth to pull away for a home victory.
The contest entered a rain delay after three innings, when Maldonado. The junior allowed one run off a wild pitch in his three innings with a hit, two walks, and a strikeout.
After the rain delay of over two hours, Jordan Pinto resumed action on the hill and the Aggies scored three in the frame, led by Scot Meitzler's two-run homer.
BCU scored a run in the sixth when Josten Heron doubled and Nate Sterijevski brought him in via an RBI single.
The Wildcats added another an inning later on Chase DeBonis' RBI base hit.
Rodriguez tied the game early with a leadoff home run to start the third. The opposite-field shot to right was his second of the campaign.Â
Pinto (4-4) took the loss with three runs, two earned, in one inning.
BCU continues the three-game series at North Carolina A&T Saturday at 3 p.m.
