National Meet Berths At Stake Beginning Thursday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Six things to know about Bethune-Cookman at the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary beginning Thursday at the University of North Florida.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: A top 12 finish earns a berth in the NCAA Outdoor National June 5-8 at the University of Texas.

Last year saw BCU send a record contingent to Nationals with Jordan Williams, Jonathan Moore, the Men's 4X400 relay team and the Women's 4X100 relay team punching tickets to Eugene, Oregon. Thea Sudeall joins Monae Nichols, Quamecha Morrison and Sade McCreath-Tardiel on the 4X100 as well as Williams looking to make a repeat trip.

Morrison is also looking for an indoor-outdoor double after finishing second in the high jump at the Indoor National meet in February.

JORDAN RULES: Williams enters the meets as BCU's highest seeded performer, ranked eighth in the 400 with the 45.60 he ran in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships. Nichols and Morrison were both in the East top ten in the long jump and high jump during the regular season.

WHO'S ON FIRST: Though first place finishes are relatively unimportant at this meet, they're still pretty cool, and BCU has had a first in each of the past two years. Michael Tiller won the triple jump in 2017 and Moore his 800 meter heat last year.

HEY, WE KNOW THEM: The MEAC will be well represented at this meet, with 47 individuals and 11 relays teams from the league scheduled to compete.
