HOUSTON – Bethune-Cookman's trip to Texas ended with a 3-0 loss to Radford Saturday in the Barcelona Sports Invitational hosted by Houston Baptist.
Jordan Jefferson had nine kills and freshman
Bailey Robinson seven as the Lady Wildcats (0-3) saw a second set lead of 18-14 and a third set 18-17 advantage fade against a Radford (2-0) team that made the postseason last year.
Playing in her hometown, freshman Alleah Davis had five blocks and three kills. Robinson, another Texas product, led BCU with 10 digs.
Jefferson also finished one shy of double digit digs with nine.
On Friday, BCU opened the tournament with a 3-0 loss to host Houston Baptist and then dropped a 3-1 decision to Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Faith Landreneaux had four kills, a block and a service ace for BCU in the opener, while Dallas and
Tynesha Adams also had four kills.
Ryleigh Taylor had 14 assists while Jefferson finished with 13 digs.
Against RGV, Landreneaux posted six kills, four service aces and three blocks as BCU took the second set 25-20 to tie the match at one. BCU hit .444 in the set as the Lady Wildcats took an early 6-1 lead, then pulled away from a 8-7 lead for a 17-11 advantage.
Jefferson had 15 digs and four kills in the match. Dallas had four kills and two blocks.
Shayla Eugene added 10 digs and two service aces.
BCU returns home to host the Bash at the Beach By Marriott Invitational Friday and Saturday, opening the tournament against Texas Southern at 1 p.m. Friday.
