DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Amaya Scott scored 19 points and Ciara Thompson a season-high 18 as Bethune-Cookman won its fourth straight with a  73-52 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference decision over North Carolina Central Saturday in Moore Gym.

Ashanti Hunt added 10 points and six assists as the Lady Wildcats (12-5 overall, 4-1 MEAC) jumped out to a 40-14 on Tatum Hayes' three-pointer with 2:51 remaining in the first half that capped off a 19-0 run.

North Carolina Central (4-13,1-3) closed the first half to make it a 40-24 halftime game, but BCU shot 56.3 percent from the field in the third quarter to push it back up to 52-31 on a Scott jumper with 5:06 remaining. BCU's largest lead in the second came with 6:32 remaining on a Scott basketball that made it 67-41.

Scott also had seven rebounds and five assists, while Thompson added five boards. Freshman Morgan Beacham scored all eight of her points from the free throw line.

BCU finished the game 20-23 from the free throw line, registering its best percentage (.870) since going 18-20 (.900) against North Carolina Central last February.

The Lady Wildcats go on the road for three games, beginning next Saturday at North Carolina A&T.

NOTES: BCU had a season high 20 assists on its 25 field goals and also had a season high 17 steals … Scott has now scored double figures in seven straight games … The Eagles' 14.3 3FG% was the second lowest for a BCU opponent this season … Thompson's 18 points matched her offensive output of the last five games combined … The Lady Wildcats' 12-5 start is one game shy of the 2017-18 team's 13-4 for the best in the Vanessa Blair-Lewis era.
