GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Amaya Scott matched her career high of 23 points as Bethune-Cookman won its fifth straight with a 69-58 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road victory at North Carolina A&T Saturday afternoon.
Ashanti Hunt added 12 points as the Lady Wildcats (13-5 overall, 5-1 MEAC) regrouped after seeing a 17-point lead fade as they handed North Carolina A&T (12-6,4-2) its first home league loss in 13 games.
Miakaya Wilson's lay-up with 4:18 remaining in the third quarter gave the Aggies a 40-39 lead, but Scott answered with a jumper as BCU rebuilt a 50-42 advantage. The Aggies closed to 50-46, but
Armani Walker's three-pointer at the buzzer gave the Lady Wildcats a 53-46 lead.
The Aggies cut a 10-point deficit to five at 58-53, but a
Daniella Hatcher three-pointer and four Hunt points keyed a Lady Wildcat run that pushed the lead back to 12.
Scott hit her first five attempts as BCU stormed out to a 22-8 first quarter lead and 33-16 on a
Camary Harris three-pointer with 4:33 left in the first half.
BCU faces South Carolina State Monday.
NOTES: Scott shot better than 60% from the field for the third time in five games ... Walker's 3FG was just the second of her career' the other came against Liberty in 2018. Her nine points were a season high. Hunt now needs 73 points to reach 1,000..
