BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Bethune-Cookman University's second trip to Birmingham saw
JaQuaveon Beachem leap into the national rankings and
Curtis Thomas register a 60 meters victory Sunday at the KMS Invitational.
Beachem won the triple jump with a leap of 51 feet, 3 ½",  the 20th best in the nation and tops among the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Thomas clocked a Personal Record (PR) of 6.76 to win the 60. Ge'Undre Rone finished sixth in 6.97
"This weekend we were able to execute a few things better and it paid off," said BCU Head Coach
Donald Cooper. "Thomas, and Beachem both had a big win and PR which was much needed."
Carlin Berryhill posted a PR of 8:38.65 in his second place finish in the 3000.
Kimilya Egalite and
Runeshia Williams posted the season's sixth and seventh best shot put results in the MEAC (42'2" and 41 10 ½" respectively). Freshman Rantano Roberts (6.97 in the 60),
Devonte Clarke (6.98 in the 60) and freshman DaMauri Little (9:21.80 in the 3000) also set PR as the Wildcats posted numerous results to qualify for the MEAC Indoor Championships next month.
BCU returns to action Feb. 11-12 in the Queens Multi Invite in Winston-Salem, N.C.
