WASHINGTON, DC – Amaya Scott scored 21 points and also had nine rebounds and six assists as Bethune-Cookman defeated Howard 75-59 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Monday night.

Ashanti Hunt 10 in her final hometown appearance as the Lady Wildcats (9-5 overall, 1-1 MEAC) salvaged a split of their conference opening road swing.
Leading 40-32 at halftime, BCU held Howard (9-6,1-1) to 1-8 shooting to start the third quarter to expand its lead to 48-35 on an
Ashlie Howell basket. The Bison never got closer than seven points in the final 12 minutes as the Lad Wildcats connected on three of four three-point attempts in the final 10 minutes.
Howell and
Ciara Thompson scored nine and eight points respectively, while sophomore guard
Kiana Williams – a Columbia, Md. Product, posted eight rebounds.
BCU jumped out to leads of 6-0 and 12-5 before Howard came back to take its only lead of the night at 16-14. An
Armani Walker lay-up and two Howell free throws gave BCU an 18-16 lead after the first period.
A Scott jumper gave BCU its largest lead of the first half at 39-28 with 1:55 remaining.
BCU hosts Coppin State Saturday.
NOTES: With the victory, Hunt wraps up her hometown visits with a 4-0 record in Burr Gym (she was injured last year) … This was Scott's 2nd 20 point game, and just like last year's 23 at Morgan State, it was on the road…. BCU now 7-2 when it outrebounds an opponent…BCU shot a season-best .773 from the line.
