DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University's 283 student-athletes combined for a 3.22 cumulative overall GPA in the Spring 2020 semester, with 34 student-athletes posting a 4.0 or higher GPA and 11 of the 17 Wildcat teams posting a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
The report released by B-CU Athletics' Office of Student-Athlete Services is one of the strongest reports in recent years while continuing a strong showing in the classroom, said Senior Associate Athletic Director
Reginald L. Thomas.
"I'm so elated on the academic success of our student-athletes this past semester," Thomas said. "Our student-athletes have faced a lot of adversity and challenges during these unprecedented times and have not only stayed focused in the classroom but also have truly embodied the spirit of being a student-athlete first of foremost."Â
One hundred and seventy-four student-athletes had 3.0 or higher GPAs, with 154 of those maintaining a 3.0 GPA for their continued matriculation. Twenty-eight student-athletes graduated at the recent spring commencement.
The Men's Tennis team posted the highest GPA (3.79), followed by Women's Volleyball (3.52) and Women's Softball (3.52).
Of the 34 student-athletes with a 4.0 or higher GPA, nine have a cumulative 4.0 while at B-CU.
