DAYTONA BEACH, Fla - Every team that is in season this spring competed this week across the Southern United States. Tennis traveled for their SWAC matches and Track and Field went to Miami for an event. Two of the standout Wildcats, Jalayah Shaw and Michael Carter, have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of March 23-30.

Jalayah Shaw, the lone true upperclassmen on our Tennis team, was superb against Mississippi Valley State on Saturday, recording two set victories without dropping a single point. Due to roster limitations on the opponent's end, she was not able to compete in doubles, and won via forfeit. The Junior has been an integral part of B-CU Tennis, dating back to her first year in 2023.

Michael Carter took third place in Long Jump at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational down at the University of Miami this week. Coming off an impressive Indoor season, the Sophomore has had a dominant start to outdoor, earning himself SWAC Field Athlete of the Week last week, as well.

Each week, the Bethune-Cookman Office of Athletic Communications recognizes one male and one female student-athlete through the Wildcats of the Week award. 

This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of Wildcat Athletics.
